Post Treatment Instructions
- Treatment on your tooth is NOT complete. You need to return to our office for further treatment.
- Your root canal treatment is NOW completed. The sealed canal(s) now need time to heal from the damage that the original irritant had caused. The roots are permanently sealed:
- and the outer surface is filled with a temporary filling material, which hardens and may last for a few weeks. It is recommended that you see your regular dentist within (2) two weeks to restore the tooth permanently. This permanent restoration may be a filling only, and/or a(n) inlay/onlay/crown. Please contact your general dentist to schedule your permanent restoration.
- and we have placed a permanent filling in your tooth. You do not need to see your dentist for a new restoration, but you should return for regular check ups.
As a courtesy, a copy of the final report, along with your initial/final x-ray will be sent to your dentist.
Do not eat anything for the first hour following the procedure. Afterwards, only eat soft food for the rest of the day. It is recommended that you chew on the opposite side until tenderness is gone. Even if you were not experiencing any discomfort prior to treatment, it is normal for you to experience some degree of discomfort for a few days. This tenderness is normal and is no cause for alarm.
